2. Aspherium (Oslo, Norway, EU):

Genre: Melodic Technical Death

Oslo, Norway’s Aspherium recently dropped their third self-released full length, The Embers of Eternity. Intense, cogitating, and extremely well-composed throughout. Not one to be missed. Rating: 8.75 / 10




3. Pinewalker (Salt Lake City, Utah, US):

Who said nothing good ever came from SLC? Some old movie, probably, but seriously, Pinewalker’s self-released debut full length reeks of pure talent, killer songwriting, and sweet, sweet cheeba. Rating: 9.5 / 10

Well produced, loud in the speakers, and even louder in the headspace is Winnipeg, Manitoba’s cosmic black metal trio, Cell. Ancient Incantations of Xarbos is eight ripping tracks worth of insane, cosmos-corpse-painted chaos. In other words, it’s great shit. Rating: 9 / 10




6. Creeping Death (Denton, Texas, US):

Album: Wretched Illusions (eOne Heavy)

Released: September 27th, 2019

Genre: Death

Contemporaries: Possessed, Obituary, Immolation, Suffocation


Loud, reverberated, and filthy, Texas’s Creeping Death have released their debut full length album, Wretched Illusions, on eOne Heavy. The fledgling four-piece hits the road in November with High on Fire and Power Trip, so be sure to know these guys before you see them live. Otherwise, you just might need help picking up your jaw from the floor. Rating: 8.75 / 10
